I hold my breath for what feels like the 50th time that day. Will she or won’t she?nIt really could go either way! Luke and I are currently watching our little girl, Isabella, master the art of standing up by herself. She also surprised us last week by taking her first step! Each time she pushes my hand away and stands on those chubby little legs all by herself, I hold my breath and wait to see if she continues to hold herself up – or falls down to the floor. Like I said, it really could go either way! And as I watch her grow and develop each and every day, I’m reminded of some very important life lessons that can be applied to any situation – especially body transformation!nHere they are:n#1: It’s ok to take risks. Having the courage to stand up, take that first step and the next one after that – it’s a huge risk. Not knowing what the result will be, it’s scary stuff. I’m sure all of us felt that way the first time we tried to walk. I know I’ve felt that way before I began to change my health and habits. Embarking on a new lifestyle journey is scary! Changing our habits, the things that we are so comfortable doing, is scary! But you know what’s more scary? Staying unfit, overweight and unhealthy. Not knowing if you’re going to be able to run around with your grandkids, that’s way more frightening. And that’s why it’s ok to take a risk and try something new. It’s a risk, that with dedication and commitment, will pay off. #2: Practice makes perfect. Stand up, sit down. Stand up, sit down. It’s what Isabella does all day! I’m sure that, with all this practice, she will be running around on her feet in no time! It’s no different for us adults. The more we practice our FIRE workouts with pinpoint technique, the better we will get at the movements. The more we practice the veggie shop n chop, the quicker our food preparation becomes. Fit, healthy people weren’t just lucky enough to be born that way. It takes daily disciplines, repeated over and over, to build a toned, healthy physique – so get practicing! #3: Don’t give up. I can’t count the number of times every day Isabella falls on her bum. It’s all part of the process! It’s the same with health and fitness. We’re all human. We’re going to have those days where we fall off track. Whether it’s missing a workout or indulging in a food craving, we all go through it from time to time. There’ll be days where you just can’t be bothered, you’re too tired, too busy, etc etc. But whatever you do, don’t give up! If your goal is as important to you as walking is to a baby, you’ll find a way to get there! Got a health and fitness goal you’d like to achieve but aren’t sure where to start?
