On the weekend, I was fortunate enough to travel to Noosa and spend the weekend with 2 of the worlds best body transformation specialists. It was for the MP Trainer of the Year award. There were three of us who went to Paul and Sharlene Cribb’s house.

Over the course of the weekend, we discussed many aspects of our businesses, and one of the topics was risk.. We identified what were some of the biggest risks we had taken. One was opening my own business. For me, when I opened my business in 2010, the worst that could have happened is that I lost everything and would have to start again. The way I looked at it, I only have material things to lose, plus if I did fail at business, I would learn valuable lessons from this.

Plus, something that drove me was my father telling me that the fitness industry was too risky and that I wouldn’t be able to make it. I know he was just trying to protect me from potential disappointment.

The lesson I took away from this weekend is that playing it safe never pays off. There are risks in everything we do and as long as you do your due diligence, there will always be massive reward at the end. I now have an amazing business that I love, full of raving fans who create an amazing energy and are people who I love to train. We have a culture of support and fun!

So while going into business for myself was risky, the rewards since have definitely outweighed it!
