Imagine that you’ve just got home from a long day at work.

You have the house to yourself and you want nothing more than to sit back, relax and have a few glasses of wine.

So you do.

You have some dinner, along with a few more glasses, then settle into the couch in front of the tv – and have a few more drinks.

You repeat this routine throughout the week.

Week after week.

Month after month.

And you begin to question yourself, “Am I still in control here?”

It can be hard to know…..

This week, I received an email from one of our subscribers on this very topic:

“I have a serious problem with alcohol. I have tried to give it up, or even cut down… I would like to cut down dramatically and not drink everyday – just socially with friends – not every night at home by myself.”

I know what it feels like to have a substance control you. My substance of choice was marijuana.

I would function well throughout the day, but as soon as I got home, I would start smoking it straight away.

Every. Single. Day.

I haven’t had this same experience with alcohol, however, so I wanted to bring in an expert on the topic – my good friend, Chris Merlo.

Chris came into my studio many years ago, with a serious drinking addiction.

Today, he’s been sober for 3.5 years and now helps others to manage their drinking habits.

(This was his amazing physical transformation – click the picture to read more.)

In this week’s video, Chris shares some of the strategies and mindset shifts that helped him change his life for the better.

And if you struggle with substance use, I sincerely hope that his initial advice can help you in some way.

(And please, if you feel like you need help with managing your substance use, seek a professional’s help. Chris and I have both done this in the past, and it’s helped us greatly).
