How to train for fat loss!
“I love boxing! Why can’t we do it all the time?”nMy ICE clients love boxing. And I agree! It’s a really fun workout to do, and I can understand why they want to do it all the time. But when your goal is fat loss, you simply can’t do the same sort of exercise all the time and expect to strip fat from your body. We just aren’t programmed this way.nTo get maximum results, our ICE workouts need to be short, sharp, intense and varied. Let’s break it down…nWhen we repeat a movement or session regularly, we become efficient at it. And when we become efficient at a movement, our bodies don’t need to work as hard to execute the action, and so we won’t burn as many calories.nFat loss is limited. On the other hand, the more challenging an exercise is, the harder our bodies need to work, and the higher the calories we will burn as a result. Fat loss is boosted! Yeah!nLet me give you a real-life example. In my last 12 week program, I was in my preseason for footy training. Now, what’s the goal with footy training, or training for any sport? To become faster, stronger, more skilled at all aspects of the game/sport; to become more efficient at the movements. I sat at 95{7df2fa278681574f8ee76c89e5b6d0450e46b07d023c695a72a7083fc9167d1f} compliance with my metabolically precise eating. So out of a possible 504 meals, 479 of those were metabolically precise across the 12 weeks. I only lost 0.3{7df2fa278681574f8ee76c89e5b6d0450e46b07d023c695a72a7083fc9167d1f} body fat, even though I only had 2 meals out of a possible 42 per week “off the plan.” So you can say that I was pretty on track with my nutrition.nMy body composition didn’t change. The reason? I was training for fitness, not fat loss. I was training to be a faster runner, not to get lean. I was training to perfect my passing game, not to “get ripped.”nAnd that’s ok, because that was my goal. Take Home MessagenIf your goal is to lose fat, then variety is key.
