Our Member of the Month for February has been training at MP for 3 years now, and in the last couple of months, has stepped up his training intensity big time! So, we couldn’t look any further than Rodney “Rocket” Florent as our Member of the Month for February! Q1. Please tell us a bit about yourself: I’m husband to Jessica, and a father of 4 – Indiana (18), Joshua (6), Louis (4), Grace (2). I’ve been a chef for 21 years and currently work at Picnic Café. I’m also studying a Bachelor of Secondary Education, and currently doing Nutrition and Families in the 21st Century. Q2. Was there a particular “snap point” for you that made you want to start training?nAfter the birth of Grace, and putting on weight in sympathy of my wife’s growing pregnant tummy (chocolate, pasta, ice cream, wine on mass), I realised that at my age, if I wanted to keep up with these kids, it was time. Plus, back pain is a challenge and strength training keeps it strong. Q3. What’s been the biggest thing you’ve learnt from training at MP?nNutrition – the MP program was invaluable to me as it made my physical training more worthwhile and I was able to have a significant transformation over the 12 weeks. Also, the support for everyone and the support received, ie the accountability, was key to my success. Q4. What’s your favourite exercise to do and why?nI hated running, but now that I can run 1km without feeling like I’m gonna die, I don’t mind it. I hate burpees, but when I complete the designated reps, I feel strong and astonished that it’s possible, even though my thoughts before are of, “I can’t do this!” So after I finish said burpees, I like that I did them. I could go on here, but I think you get the gist. Otherwise, my favourite exercise is any with the MP Team. Q5. What’s your advice for anyone thinking about starting an exercise or nutrition program?nKnow your WHY and never forget it…nQ6. What do you enjoy about training at MP?nI think the main reason that MP has clients who stay for years, including myself, and who are willing to travel, is Luke. He is consistently genuine, positive and upbeat. It’s infectious. And hey, who doesn’t like a hug before the battle! ———————————————————————— Rocket is currently doing our ICE Program, and has previously completed an MP 12 Week Transformation Challenge. He has been training at the studio since 2013, and we really couldn’t imagine our sessions without him! He brings a wicked sense of humour, an awesome work ethic and he is incredibly supportive of his teammates. We’re really grateful for you Rocket!
