“Hey Rach, we have some clients who want to enter the Women’s Day Fun Run in March. Could you please jump online and set up an MP team?”nIt was a simple request from my hubby, Luke. “Sure,” I replied, not thinking much of it. But when I visited the website, it soon became clear that this wasn’t just a case of registering a team name and moving on. Nope, I had to register to RUN the event to be able to create a team. Now, those who know me, know that running is not a strength of mine, especially not 15 weeks after having a baby. For some people, 5km is a piece of cake… I’m not one of those people! But I knew how important it was for Luke and our runners to be representing the amazing MP community in the event, so I sucked it up and entered myself. And I thought, “What did I just do?!”nWell, fast forward a couple of months, with only a few sprint sessions under my belt, and the 5km is done and dusted. I ran the whole way and came in under my goal time of 35 minutes. Yay!n,nAnd you know what? I actually almost enjoyed it! Not the run – that still sucked. But the feeling of doing something that I didn’t think I could do was exhilarating! It had been a long time since I’d been able to set myself a physical challenge and enjoy the feeling of achieving it (apart from childbirth!).nI highly recommend it! So, next time an opportunity arises for you to do something that may be just outside your comfort zone, why not just say yes?nEven if you don’t end up achieving your end goal, you’ll benefit so much just from doing the work to get there. For me, running continues to be something that challenges me. But I’m starting to realise that it may not be such a bad thing…
