Transformation Tip: Good is not good enough… Do your best!
Parenting.
Work.
Exercise.
Food prep.
Being a good friend.
There’s so many different aspects of our lives to manage, isn’t there?
With so much on our plate, it can often be all too easy to focus on where we’re falling down in certain areas.
We forget how we’re trying to be a great mum/dad day in, day out, or how hard we’ve been working out at the gym.
Sometimes, you have to remember that all you can do is your best!
For example, writing these emails to you every week, I question what I’m going to say every time!
I’ve always had a belief that I’m bad at writing, so I used to avoid it.
But now, I just have to remind myself that as long as I’m doing my best, it’s ok.
I talk more about this in this week’s Transformation Tip:
Transformation Tip: Suffering from a sore back?
Did you know that up to 80% of Aussies experience back pain?
Crazy, huh!
But when you start to think about how we are designed to move, it does make sense that so many of us struggle with back pain at some time or another.
Humans are designed to MOVE! Yet, we spend most of our days sitting at a desk, and then we come home and sit in front of the tv.
So how do we balance this fact of life out?
In this week’s Transformation Tip, I show you some simple ways to sit and stretch that can immediately improve back pain.
(Note, if you are in chronic pain and you still experience it after giving these stretches a go, please go and see a physio for diagnosis and treatment).
Enjoy!
Introducing….
The newest addition to the MP Family, Noah James Archer!
We’re thrilled to have a little boy in our lives and have had an awesome first 6 days getting to know him.
Rach and I have been reflecting on becoming parents for a second time, and we’ve talked about just how different it is.
We were so apprehensive before having our first child and there was an element of fear in each of us.
I was fearful of the practical side of things (financial, etc). Rach was fearful of childbirth.
But we had to overcome those fears because whilst we were scared of what was to come, at the same time we were so excited to become parents!
So what did we do to get over the apprehension? And can it apply to any other fears in life? You betcha!
All you gotta do is get educated…
Transformation Tip: Control Freak
If you’ve ever been pregnant or close to someone who’s been pregnant, you’ll relate to where we’re coming from this week.
We are currently due to have our second baby any day now (Rach was due last Sunday). This final stretch of the “unknown” – when exactly will this baby arrive? – pretty much sums up the whole pregnancy journey.
Women allow their bodies to take over and grow a human being; it’s pretty amazing, really!
But for anyone who likes to have a certain amount of control in their lives, it can be an incredibly uncertain and challenging time.
And then, when you go over your due date, that just adds to it.
But, as with anything in life, there are certain things you CAN control – just like with any body transformation or lifestyle change.
Transformation Tip: Move It!
Exercise doesn’t have to be complicated.
Sure, some trainers would like to make you think that having the best, most upto date gym program is the solution to all your problems, but really, when you’re just starting out, all you need to do is move more than what you have been.
And we all have plenty of opportunities to do so.
In this week’s Tip, I share some ideas for how to incorporate exercise into your routine everyday and I have some help from my little girl, Isabella….
“On the bongs…”
Sometimes, it’s important to look back so that you’re able to fully appreciate just how far you’ve come.
All too often we get bogged down in the busy-ness of everyday life that we forget to celebrate our successes – big and small.
We focus on the things we’re not doing, or our perceived lack of progress and can get frustrated that we aren’t moving fast enough towards where we’d really like to be.
I’m talking in your career, in your relationships, your finances, your health….
This week, I just so happened to be looking through some old photos, when I found one that particularly stood out for me.
In the photo, I’m holding a “beer bong” – and straight away, I was transported back to a time where my life was very different to what it is now.
And I learnt a very valuable lesson from this one, simple photo.
Transformation Tip: How to avoid feeling alienated by what you eat
Have you ever been on a diet and had the feeling like you’re missing out on life?
I was out to dinner with some of my clients on Tuesday night (we were eating dumplings!) and we were having the discussion about this very thing.
Sometimes when you start a new diet, the conditions around what you can eat are so strict that you have to miss out on coffee dates, dinners out and weekend socialising.
But to have a healthy and toned body, does it really need to be this way? I don’t think so!
I discuss this very question in this week’s Transformation Tip.
Have you ever experienced a feeling of loneliness when you’ve been on a diet? I’d love to hear from you!
Transformation Tip: A lesson from my mum
Ever wanted to achieve something, but thought it was too far out of reach?
I know I have.
It can be so easy to talk yourself out of achieving something huge.
But at the same time, if you don’t have goals, you don’t end up getting what you really, truly want out of life.
This week, I was chatting to my mum, who has recently made some huge life changes.
I asked her what’s led to her success, and she had one great piece of advice to share with me. And whether you want to give up cigarettes, change your food or exercise habits or make some other important lifestyle changes – this simple principle can be applied to anything in life.
I’m so proud of my mum, and I know that simply by taking life one day at a time, it’s made a massive difference to her health and wellbeing.
How could you implement this principle into your daily life?
Transformation Tip: I’m better than you

This pretty much sums me up.
I’m competitive by nature.
I’ve been playing a competitive sport for as long as I can remember (rugby league).
There’s not a week that goes by where I’m not fighting to keep my spot on the team, and we are competing against a new team each and every weekend in games.
It’s something I’m used to.
Anyway, it’s currently off season for footy, so I’ve been attending my local gym to do some group conditioning classes.
And I’ve noticed that my competitive nature has been out in force!
But last week, I had a bit of a realisation that reminded me of what’s actually REALLY important when it comes to working out.
(And while video technology is great, unfortunately the first 45 seconds or so of this video has poor sound quality…. It does get better after that though!)
