The “No-Dieting” Diet
Last week, I chatted to you about why eating less and exercising more can be detrimental to our energy levels.
(Click here if you missed it).
Well, this week I wanted to continue with a similar theme….
It’s a fairly common method – cut calories, exercise more and expect to lose weight.
And it got me thinking about all the other diets that are mentioned on a regular basis.
The grapefruit diet.
The soup diet.
The Atkins diet.
And the list goes on.
There are so many to choose from – many of them contradicting each other – and it can be so challenging to cut through the noise and work out which one actually works long term.
But there is a way.
I like to call it the “no-dieting” diet.
It’s a simple system for working out the effectiveness of the any diet and you can implement it straight away!
Losing Energy
Picture this.
You’ve started to exercise more and more lately in an effort to lose some weight.
You cut the amount of calories you’re eating, too, which should help the process.
You do this for a few weeks, and expect to see some great results. A smaller waistline, looser clothes and a lesser number on the scales.
And while you may see some physical changes, for some reason, you’re feeling flat.
You have no energy.
You struggle to get through the day without having a nap (or wanting to!) and you wake up feeling tired every morning, even though you’re sleeping well at night.
You’d think that by exercising more, you’d be feeling more energetic, but this isn’t the case. Something definitely needs to change if you want to maintain this routine and see results long term.
So what’s the missing piece?
Family Workout!
I know firsthand how hard it can be to fit in workouts when you have a child at home!
So, Isabella and I teamed up to bring you a fun, creative workout we can do anytime. It’s a bit of fun, so enjoy!
Hump Day Q and A – Breakfast Ideas
When you think of breakfast, what images spring to mind?
Cereal? Juice? Toast?
Yeah, me too.
But when you look at the ingredients in these items, most of it’s pretty highly processed.
And considering that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as it literally “breaks the fast” from your sleep the night before, those traditional brekky options all of a sudden don’t seem all that appetising.
So what are some alternatives?
Well, there’s plenty. And this week’s video is dedicated to answering this very question.
We started this video series with our studio clients on Wednesday this week (hence why it’s called Hump Day Q and A!) but we thought you would benefit from the info, too.
So stay tuned for a weekly answer to a health/fitness/nutrition question!
(Feel free to drop me a line if you’d like a question answered, too).
Your Thoughts?
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been talking a lot about habits – what they are and how they can impact our lives.
But now I’d like to hear from you!
I look forward to hearing what you learnt or what you may still be struggling with. Remember, you’re not alone on this journey, and I’d love to hear where you’re at.
Let’s tie it all together
Welcome to the final video in our “habits” series!
So far, we’ve identified the habit and we’ve determined what the cue, routine and rewards are in the cycle, too.
(If you missed those videos, here’s Week 1 and here’s Week 2).
In today’s video, we learn about how we can change our disempowering habits and what we need to do to maintain our mindset, once we’ve kicked our habits that were holding us back to the curb!
It’s all very well and good to know what our habits are and which ones we need to change, in order for us to look better or feel better or function better.
Taking action and sticking to it is where the magic happens!
Thanks for watching this series and I look forward to seeing you in next week’s video!
This is your cue
Last week, I talked about habits and the effect that they can have on our lives. (If you missed last week’s blog, you can read and watch it here).
Whether they are empowering, disempowering, or neutral, habits really do impact our lives on a day to day basis!
This week, I wanted to dig a bit deeper and look at what exactly habits are – what makes us do what we do?
Now it’s your turn.
Pick one habit in your life. Can you identify the cue, the routine and the reward?
Until next week!
The invisible force that nearly ruined my life
What if I told you that 66% of our lives was ruled by an invisible force?
A force that’s so powerful, it could dramatically change the direction of your life – for better or worse.
If you’ve been reading my blogs for a while now, you’ll know that I had an addiction to drugs when I was younger.
Much of my life was on autopilot, and the people I spent time with, the places I went and the actions I took everyday, were all contributing to my addiction.
I had to get control of the invisible force controlling my life.
Even recently, when I moved house and business, life felt a little out of whack. Again, I had to regain control, and get back on track.
And all of this is influenced by an invisible force – click the video to learn more about what it is and how you can apply it to your life.
Lukey’s Lesson
The best laid plans don’t always come to fruition, do they?
I was reminded of that fact this week.
We get the keys to our new studio from Monday next week, and so there’s lots to organise!
Our flooring was due to arrive next week, but I got a phone call yesterday, saying that it had been dropped off out the front of our new property already… Meaning I had to go and bring it all inside by myself, and all my plans for the day were going straight out the window.
I started to get frustrated, but I actually managed to turn the situation into a positive, and I took a couple of lessons away from the day…
Click the video to find out what they were. (And to watch me move almost a tonne of flooring into our new space!)
I’m a firm believer that there is a lesson in everything that happens to us – “good” or “bad.” It’s upto us to find out what that lesson is!
P.S. Yes, we are moving, but it’s not too far from where we currently are! We are moving to 114 Harcourt St, New Farm, so just a short stroll up from our current space. I look forward to bringing you some photos when we move in!
