Suffer from the 3pm slump?
Ever experienced this before?
You’re having a really productive day.
Getting lots of work done, ticking off your to-do list.
You head out for your lunch break and then get back to your desk for the afternoon.
You work away for a few hours and you’re typing away at your computer and then, BAM!
3pm hits and all of a sudden you feel like you could curl up under your desk and have a nap.
You feel so tired!
So, what do you do to perk yourself up again?
Reach for something sugary or high in refined carbohydrates or a soft drink…
Which is all good for a short term energy boost.
But what about the inevitable crash that comes after that, not to mention all the extra calories you’ve just consumed?
This scenario used to happen to me all the time.
It wasn’t until I sorted a few key aspects of my lifestyle that I managed to have consistent amounts of energy all throughout my day.
I’ve shared them with you in this week’s video. Hope they help you, too!
I’m in love…
Yep.
That’s right.
I’m in love.
(And not just with my wife)!
I’ve developed a love for none other than…
My slow cooker!
Why?
Well, I’m busy. We all are, right?
I love being able to chop up some veggies, throw in some meat and flavourings, and then come back 8 hours later to a beautifully tender, perfectly-cooked meal.
No need to stand by the stove, waiting for something to cook – the slow cooker does the work for you.
Plus, with the cooler weather starting to make an appearance, now is the perfect time to cook up some soups, stews and casseroles. I mean, what could be better for warming you up on those cold, winter nights?
This week, we’ve filmed a really easy slow cooker recipe, Chicken and Vegetable Casserole. Enjoy!
A healthy alternative to a late night snack
Hope you had a fantastic Easter!
If you went a bit crazy on the chocolate and hot cross buns over the long weekend, chances are you might be looking for some healthier food options this week to balance yourself out!
(You’re not alone!)
This week, I wanted to bring you a really quick and simple meal that you can prepare, that’s not only good for you, but will fill you up and satisfy those sweet cravings all in one.
Watch this week’s video for a simple, healthy alternative to a late night snack…. With a little help from my sidekick, Isabella!
Worried about the weekend?
So this weekend is Easter.
And we all know what that means….
Chocolate.
Hot cross buns.
More chocolate.
And then some different chocolate.
Repeat.
But what happens if you’re trying your best to cut down on processed foods because you have a goal you’re working towards?
Are you supposed to ignore the treats around you?
Do you lock yourself indoors at home so you’re not tempted to indulge?
Or do you go all out for the whole weekend? (You’ll get back on track next week, right?)
Well, there’s lots of different things you could do.
And if you’re looking for a bit of advice from a fellow sweet tooth, then please watch this week’s video. In it, I share a few ideas about what I do to avoid blowing out and then feeling guilty about it later.
15 minute home workout
With all the rain around in Brisbane last week, my footy training was cancelled on Thursday night.
So, while I was bunkered down indoors, I punched out a quick 15 minute session in my living room.
It’s a simple workout, but really effective, and it’s perfect for anyone who wants to develop their core and flexibility.
Check it out in the video below!
(And as you’ll see, I had a little helper demonstrating the exercises with me – thanks, Isabella!)
I train hard, why am I not seeing results?!
It’s a question that I’ve been asked many times before, and one that I’ve even asked myself.
It’s incredibly frustrating busting your butt every day, only to look in the mirror and see no change.
All those hours in the gym, all those intense workouts, all that sweat, all those early mornings…
And all for what?
Well, something I’ve learnt in my own transformation, is that intense workouts will only get you so far.
And while they are an integral piece of the puzzle, they are not the WHOLE picture!
Watch this week’s video to learn about another vital form of exercise that is essential for your health – both physical and mental!
Just get back on the horse
It’s been a rough week in the Archer household.
Our little guy, Noah, came down with a cold on Monday.
Being only 4 months old, he doesn’t know how to blow his nose…
He doesn’t know what’s going on at all, really!
We’ve had several interrupted night’s sleep and he’s had to be held upright pretty much all week.
So work stuff, workouts and everyday household chores pretty much went out the window!
But that’s life, isn’t it?
There will always be ups and downs, unexpected surprises and interruptions.
And that’s what this week’s video is all about; regardless of what happens in life, there is always an opportunity to get back on the horse!
Too old!
I went along to a First Aid refresher course recently, and learnt a lot.
And not only about First Aid!
I also went home with another great lesson that day…
Can you ever be “too old?”
Or is age “just a number?”
What do you think?
Transformation Tip: Attitude of Gratitude
Right now, your reality is someone else’s goal.
Think about it.
We live in one of the richest countries in the world, and so many people would absolutely love to have fresh running water to drink, fruit and vegetables to eat, clean air to breathe and a roof over their head, like we do.
If you’re a parent, have a look at your kids – so many loving couples would give up everything they had just to hold their very own baby in their arms.
The same goes for your body and health. Just because you may not be exactly where you want to be in terms of body shape, fitness levels and overall health, it doesn’t mean that you should be waiting around to be grateful and happy about your body.
Love what you have while you work towards what you want… Because there are so many people that you walk past everyday who would wish for the kind of life you have.
