Motivation and bathing
Motivation is a word that’s thrown around a lot in the fitness industry.
And yes, while motivation is incredibly important to help you get started on your health and fitness journey, it’s not necessarily something that’s going to propel you along forever.
Think about it.
We all have days where we aren’t motivated.
There’s always going to be times when you’d rather “Netflix and chill,” not go to the gym, or you’d prefer to have an ice cream rather than chicken and veggies for dinner.

Regardless, some people seem to overcome all that and get it done. They push through and end up achieving exactly what they set out to achieve.
Why?
How?
There’s a great quote by Zig Ziglar about motivation, that gives you a hint:
“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.”
Motivation doesn’t just happen once, and then you reach your goal.
You reach your goal because of the commitment you make to yourself on a regular basis.
This week’s video gives you some ideas about what you can do to get it done consistently, and keep on track – whether you’re motivated, or not!
HELP! I can’t get motivated to exercise!
I’m sure we’ve all been there.
The alarm goes off at 5:30am, signalling the time for you to get up, get changed and get to the gym for the 6am class.
You hit the snooze button… “Just 5 more minutes.”
The alarm goes off 5 minutes later…
Again, you the hit snooze button.
The alarm goes off again – and you repeat the same process.

Eventually, you’ve hit snooze so many times that your alarm goes off one final time – the time you should already be at the gym.
“Oh well, I’ve missed that class now. I should go back to sleep to get my rest, but I’ll make sure I go tomorrow morning.”
Tomorrow morning rolls around. And the same process is repeated.
Sound familiar?
We all have days where we feel really unmotivated.
It’s all part of being human!
But if you’re struggling with finding motivation on a consistent basis, then maybe we need to look at changing the approach!
Watch this weeks’ video, for 3 easy steps you can take towards getting motivated and kicking some goals!
How to enjoy Easter without the guilt!
Ah, Easter.
Can you believe it’s come around already?
It’s a fun time of year – school holidays, family gatherings, long weekends, and of course, chocolate.
Fun, yes.
Challenging to navigate when you’re trying to be really healthy, though!
We believe that you should be able to enjoy a few treats here and there, especially at Easter, Christmas, etc.
Life’s too short!
And it really is possible to still see great changes in body shape with the occasional indulgence.
So, how do you enjoy Easter without the guilt?
Tips for managing mental health
We have the privilege of seeing people transform before our very eyes – and we don’t just mean physically!
To change the person on the outside, you need to help the person on the inside, too.
Mental health and well-being is a huge area of focus these days, and for good reason. The suicide rates in this country are skyrocketing.
We’ve personally been touched by this, with Rach’s dad losing his battle with mental illness a few years ago. So it’s a hugely important issue to us!
Chances are you have someone in your life who may be feeling less than great right now. So this week, we wanted to share a few practical ideas that may help.❤️
These aren’t the be all and end all – each person and experience is unique – but they’re a starting point.

Looking elsewhere?
This week, my wife shared a post on our MP Studio Facebook page, that seemed to really resonate with our audience….
Here’s a snippet….
““Comparison is the thief of joy.”
Just stop and think about that quote for a moment.
I’m sure you’ve heard it before.
Every time we compare ourselves to someone else, we are literally robbing ourselves of happiness.
I can think back to so many social outings where I’ve been too busy being self-conscious about my body and comparing myself to the other women there, that I’ve missed out on so much…
Missed out on deepening connections with friends.
Missed out on being “in the moment” and present.
Missed out on switching off and having fun!
And I don’t really want to do that anymore!”

Rach hit the nail on the head, and I have to admit, it’s not just women who do this.
Guys have their own insecurities, too – it affects everyone at one stage or another, I believe.
But, while it’s easy to tell yourself to stop with the comparisons, often it can be quite challenging putting it into practice!
So, I wanted to share some things to remember next time you find yourself comparing yourself to others…
What the other 20% do
Did you know that by the 6th week of the year, 80% of people have already broken their New Year’s resolutions?
Yep, the majority of people who set intentions for a fresh start in 2018, weren’t able to follow through.
There could be several reasons for that.
And that’s what we look at in this week’s video.
Because there are some simple things that the other 20% are doing that’s helped them to stay on track with their resolutions – and we can all learn from them!
How much do you get?
I was going back and forth in my mind.
I didn’t know which was the right choice.
I knew that on one hand, I would be following through on a commitment I made to myself.
But I knew the other way was going to be better for me.
So I went with that….
And for the first time in a long time, I skipped my weekly Transformation Tip and went to bed instead.
I’d been at a course all day and didn’t get home until late, and I wrestled with the idea of giving my weekly video, the one that I had been so consistent with every week for over a year, a miss.
I hate going back on a promise I made to myself.
But instead I made the call to prioritise sleep.
Why?
Because I understand the importance of getting the right amount and quality of sleep!
It really is just so vital to helping us look, feel and function at our best.
So, how much do you get?
Feeling sore?
Ah, exercise.
So beneficial for us, yet can bring us so much discomfort…
And I’m not just talking about the workout itself!

If you’re feeling a bit stiff and sore after working out recently, you’re not alone.
Often, when we get back into exercise after having a bit of a break (eg Christmas holidays), we feel it well beyond the actual exercise!
DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) can affect us all.
And this week I’ve had lots of my clients comment about how sore they are right now.
So if that sounds like you, too, watch the video below to find out why you get sore after exercise, plus learn about some simple things you can do to feel better!
Can I drink beer and eat chocolate and still lose weight?
With all the new year’s resolutions floating around right now, many people are making massive changes to their lifestyle habits.
Going on diets.
Cutting carbs.
Counting calories, or macros.
Cutting sugar.
All with the intention of losing weight, getting healthy and feeling good about themselves.
But, does it REALLY need to be this way?
Is it REALLY sustainable to cut all junk food from your diet?
Is it REALLY achievable to stay away from your favourite indulgence, for good?
I don’t think so.
I actually think that when we eat this way, we’re setting ourselves up to fail.
We’re more likely to binge, we’re more likely to get bored – there’s no fun in removing the variety from our food!
In this week’s video, I talk more about why it’s so important to have some balance in your life…
Enjoy!
(Also enjoy my little sidekick, Bella – she keeps us entertained! Seems we may need to work on her etiquette skills, though… #nosepicker)
