Thank you!
This week, we have a simple message for you.
And that is, thank you!
Thank you for tuning into our videos this year.
Thanks for welcoming us into your life each week.
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones.
Here’s a little Christmas message from us….
Enjoying the silly season – without the hangovers!
The silly season is well and truly here!
Christmas songs playing on repeat at the shops, Santa photos plastered all over social media, and Christmas parties happening every weekend.
It’s a great time of year for celebrations!
But it can also be a challenging time of year if you’re trying to lose weight and get healthy.
High calorie-foods and alcohol are readily available.
We had a Christmas party on Friday night and with a bar tab available, it would have been easy to go overboard.
But we didn’t, and we still had a great time!
So, how do you do it?
How do you enjoy the festivities ahead, without completing derailing your progress?
Enjoying the silly season part 2 – no food coma here!
Last week we chatted about surviving the silly season without the hangover.
(If you missed it, you can catch up here).
This week, we wanted to continue with the festive theme and talk about another aspect of life that can get off track at this time of year.
Food.
We could tell you that you should stick to your nutrition plan 100% throughout the Christmas period, and there’s no reason to eat the fruit mince pies, the Christmas ham, etc.

Mmmmmm….. Christmas cake!
And sure, there are ways that we can encourage healthier eating over Christmas/New Year, and we discuss some of those today in our video.
But, we’re also real people, who love food, and love celebrating with family and friends.
And we’re all for letting our hair down and eating foods that we wouldn’t normally eat – especially at Christmas time!
(So we talk about that a little bit in this week’s video, too.)
The festive season is such a special time of year, and whether you stick to your nutrition plan 100%, let loose a little, or have a few drinks here and there, just do what feels right for you, have fun and enjoy yourself!
Here’s this week’s video – Enjoying the festive season, without the food coma!
Giving back feels goooooood!
Shaving my face is an everyday, mundane task….
But when December 1st rolls around each year, it’s a pretty exciting thing to do!
Why?
Well, I participate in Movember every year, and after growing a mo throughout November, I’m very much ready to get rid of it!
(I’m also ready to kiss my wife again)!
Although, it’s more than that.
There’s a certain feeling of satisfaction that comes with having raised money and awareness for a cause like Movember. It’s a great feeling knowing that in some small way, I’ve made a difference!
And we all have the ability to make a difference in other people’s lives.
This week’s video is about how you can help other people, simply by sharing what you know, plus a little thank you from me for another successful Movember campaign.
Ouch, that hurts
I was busting my guts.
Sweating profusely, gasping for air, feeling the burn in my legs.
I was running as hard as I possibly could.
“Welcome to pre-season training!” I thought to myself.
On Tuesday night, we did a fitness test at footy, and our strength and conditioning coach set us some standards.
And I wasn’t quite upto scratch.
Ouch.
Now usually, much more than the physical discomfort of trying to run 1.5km in under 5 minutes and 20 seconds, the disappointment of failing to achieve the standard would have hit home – hard.
But this year, something different happened.
This year, I didn’t spend time giving myself uppercuts for missing the mark.
This year, I did something different.
Because at the end of the day, beating yourself up for something that has happened is pointless!
There’s other productive ways to deal with a failure.
So if you struggle with being too hard on yourself, hopefully this weeks’ video will give you some simple ideas for overcoming your inner critic.
3 tips to help you enjoy that dessert, guilt free
Hands up if you’re a dessert lover?
(I’m putting my hand up, don’t worry)!
Caramel slice and “Old Gold” chocolate are my personal favourites; how about you?

Now, if you’re anything like me, having a sweet tooth can be challenging to manage when you’re trying to eat “healthy.”
Put a sweet treat in front of me and it’s incredibly hard to say, “no!”
And sometimes, I don’t resist – I enjoy every bit of it!
Because if you’ve been reading these emails for a while now, you’ll know that I’m a big believer in moderation, so there’s always room for dessert in my nutrition plans!
But there is a way to manage it, so that you’re still enjoying the treat, but you’re doing it guilt-free.
And that’s what this week’s video is all about…
So, what are you?
Ever feel like you’re doing all the right things but not seeing results?
Like you’ve been eating really well and exercising hard, but when you look in the mirror, nothing has really changed?
Well, it might be time to check what you’re drinking!
Many of us have a rough idea of foods that are high in calories, but what about your drinks?
Did you know that the “healthy” glass of orange juice you have with brekky has anywhere from 50-170 calories per serve?
Or that a can of coke you have with lunch is about 160 calories?
Now we don’t believe in counting calories, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be aware of where our calories are coming from.
Watch this week’s video to learn more and to get some low/no calorie alternatives!
And remember, you are what you drink… So, what are you?
I like to move it, move it
“I don’t have time.”
It’s one of the major roadblocks to people getting started with exercise.
Between kids, work, maintaining a relationship with your partner, having a social life, etc, exercise sometimes gets pushed down the priority list.
Totally normal.
But I’m always looking for ways to make exercise easier and more accessible for people and this week, I was reminded of the importance of incidental exercise.

That is, doing little bits of basic movements throughout your day, on your way to work or getting the groceries done, for example.
There are so many different ways to incorporate movement into your day, and this week, I’ve shared a few ideas with you in the video.
See if you can think of any more that might apply to your day to day routine!
15 minute fat burner
Today’s 15 minute fat burner comes in the form of a recipe!
You may have been expecting a workout, however, it’s true what they say:

Think about how many times each day you exercise…
For most of us, it’s once, and could even be once every few days.
On the other hand, think about how many times we eat?
Hopefully, it’s more than once a day!
We have so many opportunities to “stoke the fire” of our metabolism and burn fat, simply by eating.
One thing we don’t have a lot of, though, is time!
So this week, we wanted to bring you a super easy, quick recipe that you can whip up in 15 minutes flat!
